A
event
on Sunday 17th March. The event starts at 13:00.
Jar Squad brings people together to preserve food and make pickles, chutneys, krauts and other delicious things.
This special edition of Jar Squad is a fundraiser in aid of the civilians of Palestine who have known untold suffering and horror over the last 4+ months. We will be making Palestinian-inspired preserves TBC but likely to include a Shatta: fermented chilli paste/hot sauce, preserved lemons and (maybe) Za'atar, a spice blend that tastes good sprinkled on everything from hummus to fried eggs.
The money collected will be sent to Palestinian charities working on the ground to provide food, medical supplies and other support.
Jar Squad is a commoning project which means we run it collectively, share responsibilities and prioritise being together rather than transactional relationships. We are aiming towards a circular economy, reducing food waste, making the most of gluts and rediscovering communal abundance, collective action, and conviviality.
