Whether you sneaked eyeliners up your sleeve as a teenager, sometimes ‘forget’ to take clothes off after trying them on, always weigh avocados as onions on the self-service checkout, or even if you’ve never lifted a thing in your life, you are welcome to attend FASHION FOR SHOPLIFTING.
Join artist Rachael Clerke to make or transform clothing into the perfect thieves uniform alongside a conversation about bad behaviour and utopian futures. All materials provided, though please feel free to bring anything you would specifically like to adapt.
Clothing made/altered in this workshop will be available for use at Transactionland (9-20 March). You are welcome to collect any items you’ve made at the end of the project, as long as it hasn’t been shoplifted itself.
Transactionland is a shop/artspace/community-hub for exploring economics, value and exchange. At Transactionland 5-6pm every day is shoplift-o’clock, a golden hour of opportunity for lightfingered shoppers.

ABOUT TRANSACTIONLAND
It’s shopping, but not as you know it! Call in at Transactionland, a thoroughly unusual out-of-town retail emporium at Bricks, St Anne’s House. From 9th-20th March 2022, Transactionland will be open for a bit of browsing and a spot of shoplifting.
Artist-turned-shopkeeper Rachael Clerke will be hosting workshops, performance, discussion and doughnuts at Bristol’s newest shopping destination.
