Come and learn to needle-felt a mask and 'become' an endangered river creature or water spirit for the Avona puppet parade. Inspired by the rich biodiverse life of the Bristol Urban Avon and in desire to help raise wawreness about the threat to this life through human pollition.
This summer, artists in Bristol have come together to make a giant spirit of the river Avon puppet. We would love these pupeteers, and anyone who might like to be part of river-based cermonies in the future, to come and make a mask inspired by the life and lives of the river.
Think willow, beaver, crayfish and kingfisher, Alder, waterlily, otter and carp. Think what a water spirit might look like.
The workshop will be help by St Anne's House's resident artist Camille Straatman.
All mask-makers are then invited post workshop to journey from St Anne's carpark from 7pm to the river for the puppet Avona's birthing ceremony.
