SUPPA CLUB at St Dunstan's House
Join us for some good munch, with a good bunch, and carve out some pumpkins for our first Suppa Club at St Dunstan's House - Halloween edition!
Halloween comes from the ancient Celtic tradition, Samhain, which landed between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. Pagans believed this was when the barrier between the spiritual and physical worlds was at its weakest, allowing fairies, spirits, and demons to pass through into our world and cause chaos. So, they ritualized this period by lighting bonfires, hosting big feasts, and dressing as animals and monsters to scare off beings from the other realm.
Skip forward a couple thousand years, and it's morphed into another capitalist holiday. But let's remember the roots of Halloween and celebrate the changing of seasons together through the love language of food, community, and crafts.
