Ngaio at St George's Bristol

A gig held at St George's Bristol on Saturday 7th March. The event starts at 13:30.

Born in London, Bristol-based for the last twenty years, Ngaio has been skating across musical scenes since she could walk and her involvement in numerous cultural niches in Bristol and beyond cannot be understated. As well as being musical director of Bristol’s wildly fun Bass Choir, she is the founder of Booty Bass, a DJ collective that has been making big waves in the UK festival scene over the last 12 months. Her latest release Blackbird is a nine-minute track that builds from spoken word to thunderous layered vocal refrains “written for black women and is a culmination of my mixed-race identity. Musically, there are strong influences from Portishead to Fela Kuti.” Her artistic versatility has seen her move audiences to tears with truth-laden lyrics and striking vocals and DJ sets that take crowds on a journey of nostalgia and discovery.
