A
gig
held at St George's Bristol
on Saturday 28th February. The event starts at 20:00.
The French horn is the star from the very outset of this concert. A'magic' horn call summons the spirits to start Weber's overture'Oberon', and the Romantic signature is developed in Richard Strauss's heroic 1st Horn Concerto, played by Tim Thorpe, one of the UK's leading horn soloists and a Hans Hoyer artist. Conductor Catherine Larsen-Maguire draws her debut with BHCO at St George's to a close with Brahms's towering 1st Symphony.
'Thorne combines superb control and phrasing with a beautiful effortless quality of sound reminiscent of Hollywood's finest, Vince De Rosa.'
