A
gig
held at St George's Bristol
on Sunday 1st May. The event starts at 13:00.
Heartwood Chorus sings songs whose murky origins stretch back centuries and centuries. We sing songs our granny taught us. We sing songs of rebellion, of love, of war, of sex, of death, of the turning of the seasons. We sing songs by contemporary artists which fit that spirit and continue the rich tradition, including work by Nick Cave, Lady Maisery, Anna and Elizabeth and Sufjan Stevens. We sing original arrangements, meaning our music is unique to us.
We'll be singing in the foyer of beautiful St George's, on the final afternoon of Bristol Folk Festival. Entry is free.
