held at St George's Bristol
on Thursday 15th November. The event starts at 20:00.
Twenty-odd years after'Don't Leave Me This Way' and her gender-bending re-working of'Me and Mrs Jones', ex-Communard Sarah Jane Morris presents a special new project pairing her rich, sensuous voice with the sound of a cello orchestra, as heard on her fabulous album, 'Cello Songs'. Together with her partner in the project, pianist, cellist and arranger Enrico Melozzi, plus a hot-shot band including jazz guitar star Tony Remy and the strings of the Celestial Cello Quartet, Sarah Jane will perform the entire song-cycle, which includes Tracey Chapman's'Red Car', Tom Waits's'Blue Valentine' and'Blower's Daughter' by Damien Rice, plus compositions by herself, Boy George and Debussy. If we cheer long enough, there might be a few old favourites, too.
'Morris sounds better than ever deeper, sassier, sexier It's thrilling stuff.' THE INDEPENDENT
