Transcendental promotions presents:

PULSION is a totemic, ritual-based performance that moves through epic environments of existential dread and wonder. Drawing on both ancient and contemporary modes of expression, it combines organic materials with digital augmentation to reimagine and transform the interior of St Stephen’s Church.

At its core is an experimental live composition by Leeem (Liam O’Connell / My Octopus Mind) for double bass, bass clarinet, Bb clarinet, Eb clarinet, and live electronic effects. The music pulses between raw physical sound and processed texture, creating a sonic landscape that feels both intimate and otherworldly.

The performance is visually expanded through the large-scale shadow work of puppeteer Araceli, whose moving forms echo myth, memory, and transformation. These shadows are interwoven with Otto’s live visuals, using multiple projectors to layer light, texture, and motion across the architecture of the church. Together, sound, shadow, and projection create an immersive ritual that invites audiences to reflect on identity, displacement, and the shared human experience.

DEEMS is a Bristol based pianist and composer who mostly performs with his instrumental project Deems Experiment with eclectic compositions influenced by jazz, classical, and progressive rock. This time he's pushing the boundaries of his own expression to write longer form solo piano music.

Expect a soul soothing emotional journey with moments of challenge as Deems explores more rugged and angular rhythmic and harmonic terrain with influences from Brad Mehldau, Craig Taborn, and Elliott Galvin.

Fabio Ferri (Transcendental Promotions) is supported by the Early Career Promoter Fund which is managed by PRS Foundation and funded by Arts Council England using Supporting Grassroots Music funding from DCMS.
