See event details

A event on Thursday 22nd May. The event starts at 18:30.

**South West Asia and North Africa, used instead of Middle East, a colonial Eurocentric term for the region
*People of colour encompasses BIPOC (black, indigenous, and/or people of colour) and we also welcome people of colour from/linked to other parts of the world affected by similar events outside of the Western Asia conflicts.

This Week’s Theme:

I’ll be running creative workshop - grounded in themes around healing and liberation for ourselves, our communities and our lands.

The session will be very low pressure, we’ll be working on collaborative pieces with lots of different materials (pencils, pens, paint collage, stencils etc). You don’t need any art experience to attend. All materials will be provided but if there is anything specific you’d like to use including collage materials you’ll welcome to bring them. Wear something you wouldn’t mind getting a bit messy in.

We’ll have space for the food share in the later half of the session as usual.

About me (in case we haven’t met before): my name is Naz (she/they), I’m a refugee-born Afghan-British artist, health justice organiser and lecturer and public health doctor based in Bristol. I’m really grateful to have been coming to this group for the past few months.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Please feel free to share this with your friends, would love to see some new faces.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

This group is for anyone who identifies with the region or is still figuring out their relationship to it. We welcome all ethnic groups, genders, ages, faiths and lifestyles; the aim is to celebrate and learn from each other’s differences

We will also be sharing such stories while eating together. Food is such an intrinsic part of our cultures and it opens us up to each other when we sit down to eat together. I invite you, if you can, to bring a dish from your culture to share with the group. If you’re not able to, it is not a problem at all, there will be plenty of food to be shared.

This space is offered on a donation basis to make it accessible to all. If you feel like you want to donate to the hiring of the space, it is welcome but not obligatory. Any profits will be invested back into the group or to the causes that we are here to talk about.

If you can no longer come to the event, let me know so I can give your space to someone else, as capacity is limited. Please arrive on time. We open the circle at 6.30
