HOLIKA:

Folk/acoustic/Grassroots

A fresh emerging act with diverse organic arrangements, their own distinctive approach to song writing and a sound that can only be described as their own. This is the one and only Holika.

The master guitarists are fronted by angelic vocals - this is folk music at its best.

"It is the very Englishness of their sound that stops it becoming a mere homage to such country stars and instead creates their own identity that seems to sit somewhere west of The Cotswolds and east of The Appalachians. "

Green Man Music

"The second you hear Maries' vocals, it becomes abundantly clear how versatile her voice is it has a pleasant Americana-esque like delivery. All three members fit together like a puzzle; they compliment each other with such ease. "

Alex Ellis, South Sonic

"Midlands based trio, Holika, announce their arrival on the scene with a self produced three tracker, "Demonstrations". The key test of any single/ep is for it to leave you wanting more, this certainly does that. Light, almost airy, vocals float above interplaying guitars for a sound that sometimes takes onboard a jazz swing mood, whilst remaining true to the contemporary end of the folk movement. This is music to open a bottle of red wine for, kick off the shoes and simply to indulge yourself in. Three songs barely get you through the first glass, drink responsibly out there. "

"With songs this good, Paper Aeroplanes deserve a far wider audience. " Guardian

"mini-album of impressively fine melodies, gentle melancholia and the occasional burst of jaunty, breezy pop" Robin Denselow, BBC Music

"a delicate mix of upbeat nostalgia and heart wrenching honesty. " For Folks Sake

"Every so often something comes along that challenges you to do it justice on paper....breathtaking.. " God is in the TV

YOUNG ASTRONAUTS

http://www.facebook.com/youngastronautband/app_182222305144028

Young Astronaut originated in the suburbs of the New Forest as two members, brothers Chris and Pete Boakes, in 2007. For the next four years they remained a duo during which they experimented with writing a harmonious and considered blend of music - the foundation of Young Astronaut's tonality. Part by part, melodic explorations, lyrics and acoustic ideas were refined and evolved until ten tracks formed the basis of an album. The addition of drummer Niko Battistini added a strong percussive presence. After spending a month in the studio'Fawn', their full-length debut album was complete. Fawn showcases Young Astronaut's fusion of indie, acoustic and folk, capturing the full spectrum of sounds that the band produce.
