Fulu Miziki Kolektiv at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Trance-inducing, polyrhythmic DIY electronic sensations from Kampala - grooves 10 times more infectious than all of ‘tropical house’ combined, made on instruments salvaged from the global trasheep. Huge for fans of: Konono N°1, Nihiloxica, Mark Ernestus’ Ndagga Rhythm Force."

Fulu Miziki Kollektiv are an Eco-Friendly-Afro-futuristic-Punk-Ensemble collective of artists who comes straight from a future where humans have reconciled with mother earth and with themselves. This multidisciplinary collective of artists is based in the heart of Africa, in the Congolese capital city Kinshasa. For several years now, it’s members have spent an amount of time conceptualizing an orchestra made from objects found in the trash, constantly changing instruments, always in search of new sounds.

Making their own instruments, performance costumes, and masks are essential to the approach of the Fulu Miziki musical core ideology. Their unique sound supports a pan-African message of artistic liberation, peace and a serious look at the ecological situation of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the whole world.

Their presence and power are otherworldly, their rhythms and energy impossible to not dance, move or jump around to.

For fans of Konono No 1, KOKOKO! , Nihiloxca, Nyege Nyege stuff, and heavy rhythmic drum-based madness...

This is their first full UK tour - and all of us at team Worm and Strange Brew are very excited for this one!!

Pre-performance tunes to warm up the room comes from the wizard with the quirkiest & craziest wax discs, Jake Worm.
