It’s a real honour to announce our next headliner …

Optimo (Espacio).

Last summer we did a Zen Arc school trip to Watching Trees 2024 where Optimo played all night long in the woods. It was one of the most inspiring, fun and dance-provoking sets we’d ever seen. The freedom with which Optimo (Espacio) play speaks to a genuine love for music of all varieties. That night we heard ‘A forest’ by the Cure, and later Jamming by ‘Bob Marley’, amongst many other all-time classics … it changed our minds on what the rules for DJing might be, and we have been truly inspired by their approach of keeping things both curious and courageous.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Keith’s recent passing, and this event will proceed with him in our minds and hearts.

During that summer evening at Watching Trees, we witnessed one of our favourite DJing theatrical moments … whereby Keith, having just played a record which wasn’t quite slipping into the groove as much as he’d liked, immediately picked it up and launched it 20 metres upwards into the canopy of the trees behind him. Hilarious and quite legendary. We, the Zen Arcade crew, searched for hours afterwards with a headtorch and trowel to excavate the lost record, but to no avail …

We are really thrilled that Jonnie is coming to play for us and can’t wait for what should be a real classic at one of our fav venues, Strange Brew.
