"Punk AF Turkish psych fusing the fuzztastic 70s/80s tradition with 2020s industrial club crunch, aimed straight at the jugular of Erdoğan’s regime. Set your saz for the heart of the ISS, this is frazzled electro-rock perfection FFO: Baba Zula, Gaye Su Akyol, Acid Arab, Apartmanlar."

Strange Brew presents
Lalalar (Les Disques Bongo Joe, Turkey)

Friday 25th October

Fresh psychedelia from Istanbul!
Lalalar offer future-nostalgia through heavy basslines, clubby rhythms, vocals, guitars and samples from the legacies of Anatolia. Formed in 2019, they are back in September with a new album on Les Disques Bongo Joe after setting European stages on fire with the release of their first LP in 2022.
Their roots are in Anatolian poetry and sounds, but their focus is on club-oriented, uncompromising rock. Istanbul has always been a melting pot of political energy, social furore, and intense musical progression; a hotbed of riotous sounds and artists looking for new outlets and sound; a bi-product of youth culture who have been living under the rule of Erdoanfor almost a decade. It’s from these streets that Lalalar came to fruition, radicals in terms of their political ideology; outspoken, ideological, and full of energy, ripe for the dancefloor.
