A clubnight held at Strange Brew on Friday 4th September. The event starts at 22:30.
Baile do Futuro & Strange Brew invite legendary Brazilian DJ & producer RHR for a Brew debut, preceded by a back-to-back between local bass legend georg-i and Baile Futurist Gus.
>> RHR: Born in Diadema, greater São Paulo, it was in Londrina where Roniere Santos actually began his DJ career in 2010. Drawing from his upbringing and the sounds of his neighbourhood, RHR was highly influenced by Brazilian rhythms and syncopated elements.
RHR, now based in São Paulo, takes a careful look at his ideas in electronic music. Appreciated for the precision of his transitions and the creativity behind his choices, RHR illustrates like few others the discomfort with the obvious. He transforms the unexpected into his playground, weaving together different genres with a trademark sound that is electric, punchy, and devastatingly groovy.
RHR has released a respectable catalog of heavy-hitting sonic weapons with labels such as Omnidisc, Pac Recs, and Nice and Deadly, and is an integral part of the NY-based label TIJOLO Records. His latest release GÍRIA includes partnerships with Logan_Olm and Skrillex, and has set numerous dancefloors on fire across the world, wowing DJs, listeners, and producers alike.
>> georg-i: prolific producer and dance music connoisseur georg-i also debuts at Brew after a long absence from Bristol's dancefloors. Born in the North, now Bristol-based, he is renowned for his thoughtful approach in music production and for his affinity for everything fast, scrappy, and rushing with euphoria. Georg-i is acknowledged by many as one of the city's best producers, gaining appraisal from both underground and mainstream dance legends. His disruptive energy has fueled releases on labels such as YCO, FELT, Kindergarten, SOSOSO & subglow; and his music has been played all over the world by legends such as Surgeon, aya, Yaeji, Pariah, rroxymore, and Amor Satyr.
For this installment, georg-i joins Gus for an unexpected and unprecedented back-to-back that will kick the night off in 5th gear.
>> Gus: the friendly neighbourhood baile futurist joins georg-i in a head-to-head of seismic proportions that will clash the sounds of Bristol and Brazil's underground. Known for his energetic, booty-shaking take on DJing, Gus has taken the sounds of Brazilian funk and various other genres to dancefloors across Europe and South America and helped platform Brazilian and Latin artists in the UK and beyond. The Noods Radio host, Baile Trama resident and Baile do Futuro head honcho brings the complete toolbox for this b2b and, together with georg-i, will prove that the gap between the sounds of the North and the South is tighter than one may think.
FFO: Verraco, aya, Batu, upsammy, badsista, cashu.
