DEAFKIDS

The Brazilian duo DEAFKIDS returns with a vital and combustive new album, CICATRIZES DO FUTURO (SCARS OF THE FUTURE). This nine-track sonic assault forges a path beyond the conventions and boundaries of static musical genres. Here, electronic fury and feverish organic percussion collide with a relentless Latin American punk spirit. CICATRIZES DO FUTURO is the band's first non-collaborative full length since 2019's Metaprogramação, and will be available on LP, CD and Digital formats via Neurot Recordings on 29th May 2026.

Imbued with a frantic Afro-Latin pulse, lead single "CICATRIZES" (SCARS) is available to listen to today and features a dirty, danceable and sweat-soaked intersection between raw punk and clave-led Afro-Cuban music, with a futuristic approach and bloodshot eyes. Heavy pulsating 808 bass drums hit hard as a characteristic D-beat foundation for Sarine's ultrafast percussion played in the Guaguancó rhythm, driving a relentless Acid-House bassline and fuzzed walls of guitar riffs while processed vocals screams in absolute madness.

Formed in 2010 in Volta Redonda/Rio de Janeiro and signed with the North-American label Neurot Recordings since 2017, the work of multi-instrumentalists Douglas Leal (vocals, guitar, electronics, samplers, percussive, artwork, etc) and Marian Sarine (drums, percussive, electronics, bass) consistently blends the raw spirit of noise and punk with complex global rhythms and electronic experimentation, creating a vibrant and provocative body of work that challenges musical and aesthetic conventions.

dj sniff (Takuro Mizuta Lippit) is a musician and curator in the field of experimental electronic arts and improvised music. His work builds upon a distinct practice that combines DJing, instrument design, and free improvisation. Over the years, he has collaborated with Evan Parker, Otomo Yoshihide, Koichi Makigami, Jaap Blonk, ErikM, Paul Hubweber, Tarek Atoui, Ken Ueno, and Senyawa. Numerous festivals have featured his work including: CTM Berlin, Warsaw Autumn, Flow Festival Helsinki, March Meeting Sharjah, Jazz em Agosto Lisbon, REWIRE Den Haag, Taipei Arts Festival, LACMA, and Taipei Biennial. Musical compositions and recordings by dj sniff have been released on various media formats from labels in Lebanon, U.K., France, Germany, Slovakia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan and Japan.

His recent works Parallel Traces of the Jewel Voice (2022) and The Inverted Listening of Explosive Enemy Aircraft Sounds (2023) examine the critical roles that phonograph records played during WWII Japan and its colonized territories. Real / Fake Japanese Music from 1914~1980 (2022) and Japanese Pop Natures 1934~1985 (2023) are DJ mixes commissioned by the Global Pop Culture Magazine which are made in collaboration with musicologists from Japan. Sound installation Transformer (2023) is constructed by reinterpreting narratives and actual equipment associated with Grandmaster Flash. His most recent release Turntable Solos (2025) is a document of his continued effort to find a unique musical voice through self-made DJ tools.

Sniff holds a B.A. from Keio University Department of Aesthetics and Science of Arts, M.P.S. from NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program, and Ph.D. from De Montfort University Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. From 2007-2012, he was Artistic Director of STEIM – Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music, where he led and curated the institution’s research, artist in residency program, and concert series. Between 2012-2017, he was Visiting Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong School of Creative Media and served as Associate Professor at Kyoto Seika University Department of Global Studies from 2020 to 2022.

Currently sniff is based in both LA and Tokyo, where he serves as the Co-Director of Asian Meeting Festival (AMF) - an international music festival that brings together experimental musicians from Asia since 2005, part-time lecturer at Kyoto Seika.

Sergeant

Sergeant makes music like editing an erratic film: cutting, splicing, and reassembling sounds into a whirlwind of unexpected turns. The trio – filmmaker/composer Benjamin Cools, search-singing actor Ferre Marnef, and sonic surfer Geraldine Vanspauwen – strike a delicate balance between post-punk’s jagged edges, krautrock’s relentless drive, and an unpredictable pop energy that keeps your heart racing.

Their sound is a plunderphonic mess of fractured rhythms and clashing textures: always on the move, never in balance. It’s like The Avalanches throwing a party with pagan whistles, distorted bells, and dubby basslines. Flutes squawk as if they’re trying to outrun the beat, and melodies splinter into chaotic joyrides. Imagine Micachu & The Shapes playing hopscotch with Robert Wyatt, or Sonic Youth dissolving in a glass of sparkling water and vodka: fizzy, intoxicating, yet brutally honest at the end.

Live, Sergeant stretch their music to experimental heights, pushing songs into a fever pitch, scrambling them into something even more untamed. The room fills with foolish critique, a controlled stumble, a sound that keeps running even when it’s lost track of where it’s headed.
