The Secret Shade: Powder & Cleyra at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Immersive, hypnotic, psychedelic, Powder doesn’t seem to just DJ anymore – heads talk about her with a near-religious reverence. Is she the next generation's DJ Nobu or Donato Dozzy? Expect highly textured loopy techno and ecstatic deep house crescendos as you enter the climactic, cultish club fold with Timedance’s euphoric bass secret weapon Cleyra."

The Secret Shade
& Strange Brew presents

Powder (Thinner Groove) - 3 hour set
Cleyra (Timedance) - 2.5 hour set

Japan’s Powder returns for an extended 3-hour set, joined by former Bristol legend Cleyra. Prepare for elusive and transformative house and techno with plenty of left-field gems from two inimitable selectors!

Powder isn’t one to miss, whether it’s your first time seeing her or your tenth. The Tokyo-based DJ and producer blends minimal, floaty club sounds into a style that feels both familiar and entirely her own. Her sets gently bend convention, balancing playful weirdness with restraint. She focusses on texture and tactility, building almost fantastical atmospheres that leave dancefloors dazed and beautifully puzzled.

Cleyra operates in a blurred club space that feels warm yet distant, layered with emotion, intention and a strong sense of poetic intensity. Having released via Timedance and Twin System and now based in London, they have been heard playing low-lit grooves at EXLRUTH’s legendary Opera Sunday party and textural, sub-driven oddities at Fold's Steam Room.
