A gig held at Strange Brew on Saturday 13th June. The event starts at 19:00.
Known for destroying crowds with 'The Comet Is Coming’ Dan Leavers aka the mighty ‘Danalogue’ is a force of nature.
Having been spotted in Bristol numerous times and across the world by hundreds of thousands of stomping fans while fronting The Comet Is Coming with his layers of cosmic sounds, drum machines and FAT chunky rave basslines soaring from his awesome collection of hardware, he’s now set to release his new solo album entitled ‘Teleporatations’ on May 29th.
Danalogue is a one-off proposition in the UK music landscape. An insane keys player who manages to juggle many layers and elements at once with crazed rock’n’roll meets festival big stage rave flair while also capable of softer more cosmic moments that can relate the listener to his appreciation of German Kosmiche, Tangerine Dream or say early electronic pioneers such as Delia Derbyshire, Harmonia or Jan Hammer.
Weaving hypnotic analogue synths, pulsating drum machines, and cosmic textures into an electrifying live experience the show is 100% live, as Danalogue uses fingers and adrenalin to adjust hardware on the fly. Ethereal dream states evolve into high energy acid-dancefloor explosions.
Science fiction provides both the language and architecture of the record. Inspired by astral travel, theta brainwaves, collective consciousness, the artist Jean Giraud, the writer Ernst Bloch and the film maker Miyazaki, Danalogue imagines music as a shared act of transportation.
Teleportations was created using a largely vintage analogue setup, centred around the Roland Juno-60 and SH-09, Jupiter 4, Oberheim and old samplers. For Danalogue, working with older instruments is both an aesthetic and philosophical choice; embracing limitation, tactility and imperfection as a means of focus and identity, while forming a “time bridge” to earlier eras of electronic experimentation. Rather than recreating the past, the album imagines travelling back with modern sensibilities and telling the future through old machines….
Teleportations is a love letter to deep listening, to albums that function as worlds, and to music as a vehicle for transformation. It is an invitation to step outside regular programming, leave gravity behind, and travel – together – somewhere else.
