"Sell out warning! He rid our ears of the Evil Curse Of The Vampires last Halloween, now Scientist returns with King Tubby DNA still coursing through his veins. Expect a night of mixing desk alchemy from one of the last foundational 70s dub giants. Anyone with even a passing interest in sound system culture: miss this at your peril."

Strange Brew presents
Scientist w/ Rider Shafique
+ Medis (DJ)
Sat 16 August
7pm - 10pm
Considered to be one of the last classical Jamaican dub mixers, Scientist was one of the most sought-after engineers of his time. A protégé of King Tubby, his contemporaries include several figures who, working at King Tubby's studio, had helped pioneer the genre in the 1970s: Ruddock, Bunny Lee, Philip Smart, Pat Kelly and Prince Jammy.
Rider Shafique is a vocalist, poet and MC known for his distinctive voice and introspective lyrics that blend elements of dub, reggae, grime and spoken word. Hailing from Gloucester, he has collaborated with a variety of artists such as Mala, The Bug, Dubkasm, O$VMV$M & more. We look forward to hearing him on MCing duties for Scientist for their first time.
SWU FM resident and DVL6 Recordings founder Medis will be warming up the floor from doors with low-end delights, dub and reggae.
Entry requirements: 14+, any under 18s accompanied by 21+ adult 1:1 ratio
