Deep Street is back with the long awaited return of Chicago hero, Specter!
If there’s one DJ we had to invite to Strange Brew, it’s Andres 'Specter' Ordonez. A true master of spinning records, with roots going back decades. A key influence on us, and many others… trust us, this is one you really won’t want to miss!
Growing up in Chicago, Specter got hooked on radio stations like the legendary WBMX and his early influences include seminal DJs like Farley Jackmaster Funk, Edward Get Down Crosby, Mickey Oliver, Bobby Q Bobby, Lee Collins, Lil Louis and the inimitable Ron Hardy.
He made a name for himself as young DJ playing loft parties in the early days of Chicago’s vibrant party scene spinning House, Disco, Italo and Techno records in that classic mid-west beater style - one that many imitate but few get right.
As well as a seasoned and respected DJ, Specter is also a prolific and distinctive producer, releasing classics on his own label Tetrode (with Damon Lamar) and a host of others.
This year sees a fresh addition to his (already) impressive catalogue on Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature - an ode to his late dog, ‘Brutus’ (RIP). The EP features 4 tracks that carry all the weight and individuality of classic Specter productions.
It’s a rare treat to have Specter in the UK and we are super excited to welcome him back to play for you.
