Baile do Futuro w Caio Prince & Carlos do Complexo at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Baile funk wizardry from São Paolo’s DJ Caio Prince who pushes the genre to hyper-pitched and raucous parameters, unleashing a hypnotic frenzy in his wake. It’s gonna get hawt and heavy, dress to sweat. "

>> STROBE WARNING <&> HEARING PROTECTION ADVISED<<

Baile do Futuro finds a new home at Strange Brew, bringing none other than São Paulo Baile Funk royalty: Caio Prince.

Line-up:
>>Caio Prince: The South-side wizard from Jardim Miriam comes to Bristol for a debut show that will introduce Brewers to the sound of “Bruxaria”, São Paulo’s dark and aggressive style of baile funk. With an eclectic taste and a diverse repertoire, Caio has helped bring the sounds of Baile Funk to the mainstream scene, and consequently helped break it away from typical stereotypes that surround the genre. Prince is not only a dj and producer, but also an ambassador for marginalised black and queer artists, giving voice to those who are often unheard and/or silenced. A bonafide selector and musical activist who represents the voices of São Paulo’s favelas. One of one, you heard it here first!

>Carlos do Complexo: the latest addition to this amazing night was born and raised in Complexo do Engenho da Rainha, in Rio de Janeiro. The brilliant all-around producer has established himself as one of the most iconic names of this generation as has been making noise in Brazil and abroad. CDC, as they are also known, is constantly experimenting with the sounds of Electronic, R&B, Funk Carioca, African music, among others. Be it euphoric house synths or a classic Rio-funk tamborzão, CDC touches all bases of electronic music creating a unique experience.

>>Tsunamy: the French-born, London-based selector also makes her first appearance in Bristol after being granted her honorary Brazilian citizenship. The genre-bending bpm-traveller is known for selections that traverse Baile Funk, amapiano, jungle, footwork and anything that will make a booty shake.

>>GUS: natural from Paraná, the Noods and Radio Raheem resident comes to the Brew after his first appearance for Psychotherapy Sessions’ party with Ramon Sucesso in June. Lover of weird grooves and unusual sounds, GUS weaves together different sub-genres of funk to create a unique sonic experience.

>>AÆE: local hero and SWU Resident AAÆE joins us for the early hours of the evening.
