Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Thee industrial techno steppas titans cometh! Gonz and Pack’s SELN mini-verse finally aligns with the cosmically-predestined Bristol nexus. The collision will be seismic, with live sets and DJs joining dots between doomcore dub and brutalist tekno propulsion in a totally unfuckwithable offering FFO: John T Gast, TNT Roots, T++, Chain Reaction."

A clubnight held at Strange Brew on Saturday 25th April. The event starts at 22:30.

SELN hosts its debut Bristol venture as part of the ever expanding event series “Celebrating New Industrial”. A celebration in the PUREST SENSE - international artists, local talent, and everything in between, performing strong music LIVE.

Somewhat of a second spiritual homeland for SELN, it’s with great pleasure the label hosts its first official venture in the West Country’s capital. And in what better company than contemporary techno-tour-de-force Akua, UVB-76 legend Vega, and SELN’s own Conrad Pack & DJ Gonz.

AKUA

Akua has cemented herself as one of the most distinctive techno DJs coming out of the U.S. in recent years. Forefronting the current generation of artists reviving the spirit of techno’s enduring velocity, her no-compromise mindset brings a full throttle intensity to her sets embodying an enthralling old-school sound while simultaneously keeping the pulse of the contemporary techno milieu. This committed and high-level practice has seen her perform throughout the present club circuit, including Berghain, Movement Detroit, Basement, Dekmantel & FOLD. Not to be missed!

CONRAD PACK [live]

Conrad Pack is one of the most exciting producers operating in London's underground. He runs the SELN Recordings label with DJ Gonz, and his productions there explore the fertile terrain between tuff, rooted soundsystem steppers and high-BPM techno, while his evolving productions for Lost Domain explore a distorted, hard-edged but deep and dub-enriched techno sound with echoes of Obscurum, early Downwards and Axis. With releases on the esteemed techno imprint Semantica earlier this year, Pack has been focusing of late on live performance, showcasing his focused and distinct sonic vision of techno.

DJ GONZ [live]

DJ Gonz is a producer, DJ and visual artist hailing from London. He co-runs SELN recordings where his releases perpetuate focused melodic riffs joint with heavy leading percussion. Drawing on influences taken from free-tekno, dub and kuduro, his sound is both pensive, driving whilst still rooted in a soundsystem tradition. Previous output include The Messenger on Wain Records and most recently Magical Negro Overdrive.

VEGA

Vega is the founder of UVB-76 Music and DROOGS, and a key affiliate of Ruffhouse. As both a DJ and producer, he has played a central role in shaping the label’s sonic identity, focusing on atmospheric, deep, and technically refined drum & bass and techno. Known for his encyclopedic knowledge of electronic music, Vega is a driving force behind the collective’s creative direction and a regular presence at UVB-76 label showcases. Active within Bristol’s underground scene and frequently featured on platforms such as SWU/Rinse FM, his sets and productions explore the darker, more emotive edges of bass music while maintaining a strong emphasis on precision, depth, and sound design.
