Known for playing contemporary reggae and dub music, Sinai fuses the new with the old as the team blur the boundaries between pro-audio advancements and traditional, cherished sound system culture.
Since making their first official appearance as Sinai back in 2014, the crew and their weighty system have gone on to become regulars at the likes of Outlook Festival and Dimensions, with appearances at headsy club events hosted by Tectonic Recordings, Young Echo, SubDub and Deep Medi also locked in. Cocktail Party Effect (Strange Brew Debut)
Berlin based Cocktail Party Effect has previously released on R&S's sublabel Apollo Records under the moniker Kasket. Cocktail Party Effect is a purveyor of raw modular made and DIY-minded techno combining distinctive drums with abstract outspoken synths.
- Boreal Massif LIVE (Bristol Debut)
Deep, heavy bass & rolling breaks collaboration project between Pessimist & Loop Faction (Kristian Jabs & Reuben Kramer). Debut album 'We All Have An Impact' was released in October 2019, with a strong message relating to climate change and the destruction of the natural world.
- Mika Oki (Bristol Debut)
Mika Oki is a visual artist, Dj and producer born in Paris.
With a background in sculpture and electro-acoustic music, she explore the notion of intangible spaces and emotional landscapes through AV installations, music and mixes.
Like a sculptor who knows that the slightest miscalculated move of a chisel could damage the totality of an artwork, Mika Oki’s selections elude great mastery and undeniable preparation. Doing wonders in her many radio shows, it’s difficult to realise her taste in rumbles and undeniable love for sounds from across the Channel (drum and bass, UK garage, 2-step, grime…) before seeing her on the dancefloor. Never hesitating to alternate a 90s dance anthem with an obscure juke track, she also manages to gather seemingly disparate and conflicting elements together, creating an incredible coherence. Percussive but generous, erudite yet uninhibited, she pieces together unique mixes that never cease to surprise.
Eternal dreamer, she uses abstract sound textures and kinetic images to generate mind trips, body journeys through music performances and immersive installations.
She also developed an interest in Djing in clubs and radio shows where she translate her atmospherical experimentations, blurring The boundaries between techno, dub and ambient/narrative sounds.
This year, she played in European audiovisual festivals like TodaysArt, SONICA, CYNETART and in Uganda for the last Nyege Nyege festival.
She also exhibited her work “Reverse Osmosis” at Berlin Atonal 2018.
Her involvement in the electronic and experimental music scenes, and her desire to highlight the Belgian artistic community led her to become station manager at The Word Radio in Brussels.
- Tilly (NTS/Saffron)
Noods radio originator and now in force on NTS for her monthly residence, Tilly's one of the most appreciated local in the Bristol music scene.
- Odd Shy Guy (Bristol NormCore)
Close to a decade ago, Odd Shy Guy began juggling his split life.
As tech-world engineer on one side, and flipping into a vinyl collector and DJ on the other.
Fast forward to 2018, he founded Bristol NormCore, an independent record label and open platform born in Bristol.
As the curator of the monthly radio show "NormCore Attitude" on the Bristolian NOODS radio and the mastermind behind the nomadic bash party "NormCore" his performances are a captivating blend of deep bass and cutting-edge rhythms.
He delves into the entire spectrum of Bass music, with an eye on fresh vibes while tipping his hat to the roots of every sub-genre.
