Wolf Eyes + Yeah You + more at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Enter the free-jazz-trip-metal kaleidoscope with the last pre-armageddon pit stop of harsh-everything - you just can’t spell DIY without Wolf Eyes. Like Butthole Surfers harassing Albert Ayler in memeland, they will exist for all time. All noise/experimental fans must experience at least once."

STRANGE BRUISE 2: Wolf Eyes (Detroit, USA) / Yeah You / Storyteller / Robert Ridley-Shackleton / Sat Nov 4th

For the second Strange Bruise we present an unhinged and chaotic in-the-round show with a suite of gnarly noiselords.

Godfathers of American avant-garde, Wolf Eyes comprise Nate Young and John Olson (Inzane Johnny) whose intense and bizarre live performances have established them as one of the most frightening and weird bands in the world. With a disturbing and hypnotic sound and a chaotic, relentless release schedule (351+ on discogs) they are one of the most authentic bastions of industrial noise working today, conjuring homemade post-nuclear terror & absurdist hypnosis. Formed in Michigan in 1998, originally started as the solo project of former Nautical Almanac member Nate Young, he was soon joined by Aaron Dilloway in 1998, John Olson in 2000 then Mike Connenlly and Crazy Jim. Now comprising Young and Olson, they bring a quintessentially DIY and absurdist philosophy to music. As well as a slew of self-releases they count Bulb Records, Troubleman Unlimited, Fusetron, Sub Pop, Olson’s American Tapesw, Dilloway’s Hanson Records, Mike Connelly’s Gods of Tundra label, Nate Young’s AA Records, Jack White's Third Man and most recently the Warp sub-label Disciples amongst their release platforms.

Yeah You is Father-daughter duo Mykl Jaxn & Elvin Brandhi, whose shouty improvisations ‘tangle up defouling sermons with ragged beats, gnashing bass, and ear-worm synths,. sometimes recorded on-the-fly on car journeys

Plus Scottish electronics-spoken-word duo Storyteller, burrowing deep within your memory and recording over it with grubby stories and twisted poetry

Hosted by local DIY champion Robert Ridley Shackleton
