BODY LANGUAGE PRESENTS...
Story of My Body, 2pm - 5pm @ Strange Brew
Story of my Body is the first of three experiential workshops happening throughout February 2023. Each focuses on a different aspect of the moving self. Storyteller, ecosystem and social being. Participants are welcome to attend all or any of the sessions on offer.
Body Language are a dance collective that run open, integrative and somatic dance classes for people who want to explore movement in a creative, holistic and explorative way. These sessions aim to be inclusive to all abilities, ages and backgrounds. We aspire to help people celebrate and find expression through their most valuable and unique asset - the body.

More about the workshops...
In the creative re-telling of our experiences, we welcome integration and affirm self-identity, conceiving new perspectives, resolutions and a greater depth of understanding. This small group embodied process will flow between individual and group reflection, using written, moved and spoken forms to illuminate and reimagine the definitive moments of our lives.
Explore what it takes to move a body, why we bend, break and build boundaries within and around us, how it affects the system, within larger systems and how they interplay. Invite your inner child to play, speak to future ancestors or unravel subconscious braids that tell the stories that play out in the present. The personal and collective stories we hold in our limbs can tell us much about the roles we have inherited, assumed or had placed upon us. Investigating these inner worlds can help us broadcast or rewrite a more congruent version of ourselves.
Drawing on intersubjective experience and the triad of self-body-other, we will examine the bio-psychic-social-kinesthetic dynamics that function as drivers, traversing body politics and cultural influences to unearth new narratives that guide us toward the authentic Self and the movement that lies there.
This is a journey of self discovery and creative expression. Whilst the work is trauma-informed, integrating tools and techniques from Polyvagal Theory, Dance/Movement Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, we ask that participants be mindful of their own boundaries in regards to safety, our limited time frame, and the nature of this short but evocative process.
Please get in touch with [email protected] if the PWYC ticket price is a barrier for you. We want to ensure everyone who wants to be involved can be.
