Movietone: Day And Night Album Q&A + Signing

To celebrate the long-awaited reissue of Movietone's sophomore album 'Day And Night' via Domino, Rough Trade present an outstore with the band in conversation with Richard King at Strange  Brew.

In October Domino Records present the first ever reissue of Movietone's seminal album Day And Night since it came out in 1997. The record is an overlooked diamond of British 90s music and now a much sought-after rarity. A perfectly crafted slice of atmospheric post-rock, the tracks wander and meander like rivers, blooming into hushed climaxes. The band spawned out of the collective of groups that gathered around the Bristol-based Planet Records label in the early 90s, including Flying Saucer Attack, Third Eye Foundation, Crescent and Hood.

In recent years, Movietone have gained a cult following as their music has found its way to a new generation of fans - tracks from Day and Night have been gradually populating NTS tracklists and their eponymous debut was reissued by World of Echo in 2023.

The Q&A will be led by Richard King, music writer and co-founder of the 90s record label Planet Records whose roster was drawn from the city's underground music culture, releasing music by Movietone, Third Eye Foundation, Crescent, and Flying Saucer Attack, along with occasional American bands including Yo La Tengo and Harry Pussy.
