IYAMAH LIVE
+ support
Sunday 19th May
7pm - 10:30pm

In the seaside resort of Brighton, Sophie Bond, also known as IYAMAH (pronounced i-yam-ah), grew up surrounded by the rhythms of reggae music and African drumming. She picked up a piano and began creating songs, but she kept them as a form of journaling for her personal self-expression. She didn't develop a love for Neo-Soul and hip hop until she began taking vocal classes in school, presenting solo renditions of songs by strong female musicians like Whitney Houston, Etta James and Aretha Franklin, along with performers like Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu.
IYAMAH has been working with people like Maverick Sabre, Charlie Perry, Paul White and Mullally, to mention a few, since she moved to London. The festival anthem by My Nu Lengs, "Senses," featured IYAMAH, who performed the song at Glastonbury.
IYAMAH has established herself as one of the newest artists on the UK live music scene after appearing at festivals including SXSW, Latitude, Secret Garden Party and others, as well as touring the UK with singer Mahalia. IYAMAH released her first single, Cryptic Love to great acclaim with a premiere on DUMMY magazine, radio play on BBC Radio 1 via DJ, Phil Taggart and interviews across Rinse FM and specialized radio. She is experimenting with her roots and forging her own unique path. IYAMAH's upcoming single, "Silver Over Gold," has been praised by musicians, fans and the music industry..
