A
clubnight
held at Strange Brew
on Sunday 27th June. The event starts at 15:00.
We're excited to announce our first show of the year with this Dub Legend at Bristol’s newest and most exciting music and arts space.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential producers, remixers and engineers in the dub scene, Neil Phraser was born in Guyana, South America, before moving to the UK in the early 70s. Dubbed Mad Professor, due to his obsession with electronics, he released the first of his now legendary 'Dub Me Crazy' series in 1982.
He has gone on to work with some of the greats of dub as well as the broader music industry, including Massive Attack, Jah Shaka, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Channel One, Horace Andy to name but a few. His remix credits are just as impressive working with everyone from Easy Star All Stars to Grace Jones to Depeche Mode.
His very clean and spaced out production style went on to influence the inception of dubstep, with artists like Benga, Skream and El-B all citing his music as a big influence on their productions. We personally recommend his album with Pato Banton (tinyurl.com/jnfb7t69) which is excellent!
It is enormously exciting to welcome the mad man to Bristol on what should be the first weekend back of normality in the UK and with it the advent of Strange Brew as a full capacity venue.

However the possibility of the extension of social distancing rules brings complications for a show on this date. We don’t want to be in a position of having to refund tickets if we have to drop back to a socially distanced sit down show. So our plan is to sell this at the reduced sit down capacity across two sittings and, when we have confirmation of full capacity, we’ll release more tickets and make additions to the line up.
