A
gig
held at Strange Brew
on Sunday 27th March. The event starts at 17:00.
And Not Or is back, this time collaborating with Bristol's Ambient Communicator DJ Boursin, with a co-created line up of the city's musical intelligentsia. There's no Drone Yoga this time, that'll be back in April...so we're opening the doors of Strange Brew to everyone from 5pm for an extended listening and lounging session. As usual the main room will be transformed into a living room that's big enough for you and all your mates, where we invite you to take a spot on the blankets and beanbags, and relax into your Sunday evening.

DJ Boursin - Writing these introductions for people that don't need them is more and more challenging...and DJ Boursin certainly needs nothing of the sort. If you're based in Bristol and like ambient music then you know the score. Without being too presumptious though; And Not Or is the perfect place for him to explore his mission statement of recreating an atmosphere redolent of the famous ambient yurt at Freerotation, where given his own way, he would be twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. It's not all blissy, loved up, warmth and positivity though...the lightest pads and the deepest subs will be offered up alongside social critique and politcal context...carrying you towards / away from your futile search for transcendent escape and timelessness. Definitely chuffed to be working together on this month's event.
k means - Having recently shifted along the GWR line from London, and now residing in the city we call home, most of you will be no stranger to throwing your arms and legs in all direction when she's on the decks. However, at And Not Or this month, you'll be treated to a lesser spotted ambient set from her, and the focus will be retrained on your limbic system, as opposed to your limbs, and will no doubt provide us with one for the memory bank.
2257AD - This reknowned selector and DJ will probably be most familiar to you for his studious approach to discovering and sharing the deeper cuts from ambient sub-genres of house and techno from the 90's to the current day. His regular radio show on 1020 Radio is always a great opportunity to be presented with tastefully curated music - we've no doubt he's more than perfect to fit the bill for us.
Dan Thorman - With no yoga to soundtrack this month, and a line up of esteemed DJs tasked with soundtracking the evening, Dan is gonna add to the list of beanbags, cushions, and blankets that he usually carts down to And Not Or each month, and bring along his modular rack and some other bits of gear to noodle around on.
