HEAR YE! ✊ The UK's premier queer & experimental trad-folk troupe Shovel Dance Collective make their Bristol debut!
Having set hearts ablaze at every damn festival they played this summer (all of them), SDC have fast established themselves as the most exciting and wholesome big-band in the land. Goosebumps & tears or yr money back!
Witness the renaissance gang in their full glory on Thurs 16th Feb at Strange Brew.
"Nurturing a passion for the folk musics of the British Isles and Ireland with experimental tendencies, they explore the ways in which traditional music holds queer histories, proto-feminist narratives and the voices of working people. They are simultaneously traditional and experimental, seeing folk music as a living communal activity, inviting and generous to those it speaks to."
Crucial FFO: The Watersons, Stick in the Wheel, Third Ear Band, Broadside Hacks, Lankum, Alison Cotton, caroline, Robbie Basho, Laura Cannell, La Nòvia collectif, Pentangle, Richard Dawson etc.
Joined by none-other than the O.G. Jigg, a one-man-band with the power of nine. No instrument is safe in the vicinity of Will Memotone. In just a couple of years they have created a deep and rich lore, tapping into and fusing folk musics in ways never dared (just don't call it folktronica...).#
