DOOZY: Exhibition, Zine Launch + Afterparty at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Doozy is a dare to everyone who thinks art exhibitions are stuffy and boring. Try not to have fun with robotic sculptures, AV PS1 psychedelic gaming temples, wearable art and an actual PARTY with K means & Rose Again playing bass mutations in the back room. Is it the most ambitious art event Bristol’s ever seen? Go on, Doozy dares you."

TRIPLE WHAMMY EXHIBITION-PARTY-ZINE LAUNCH ALERT @ STRANGE BREW - IT'S A DOOZY.

Arts crowd, performance/experimental lovers, and leftfield club music heads unite!
The most ambitious hybrid art-music event Strange Brew has ever seen? Strange Brew x Doozy Magazine proudly present a gluttony of original and unseen work themed around 'play, process, humour, experimentation' from 38 artists presenting work across video, sculpture, performance, painting, photography, installation + headline sets from k means, Rose Again, & Disk Frisk + the launch of a new arts zine cataloguing recent developments within the Bristol art-music-culture vortex.

Expect: 3 rooms of art (including an audio visual temple), audience controlled Guitar Hero lighting rig, fluffy charactered ASMR banquet, flightless birds, live painting jam, piñata's filled with wotsits, lollypop purveyors & sherbet dealers, silly paintings, performance art, VJs, zines and wearable art.

Do Not Expect: a lengthy and illegible exhibition text, a £35 exhibition publication, free white wine on entry, oil/war profiteering related sponsorship.

Theme: Thematically, both the exhibition/event and the magazine is a broad exploration of play, process, humour, experimentation, and a celebration of art-not-content, as well as an exposition of both new talent emerging from Bristol / West England and more established talent from further afield. We're pushing this agenda musically too, with more experimental/oddball/comedy-inspired sets from a huge lineup established Bristol Djs.

About Doozy:
The brainchild of artist Zac Berger and wannabe writer Lucas Nieboer, Doozy is a new Bristol based exhibition and zine aiming to platform emerging and underrepresented artists from Bristol and further afield whose work deals in humour, play, experimentation, and a focus on art-not-content. An answer to the dour, sour, and sober white cube exhibition model, we propose joy, chaos, play, humour, unpredictability, and experimentation as an antidote.

Over 6 months in the planning, our inaugural event and launch party is for the Bristol arts community to provide a little one night haven for the fun, slightly silly side of the arts. All the work in the exhibition is also for sale (at zero commission) so please bring some £££ and let us know if you'd like to purchase something!
