BLUE LAKE

Led by the Texas-born, Denmark-based artist Jason Dungan, Blue Lake is characterised by a peaceful, wandering approach. Blending folk, jazz and ambient music whilst often incorporating string, wind and percussion instruments as well as custom-built zithers, Blue Lake makes for beautifully radiant and tranquil compositions.

After many years of playing in bands, most notably Squares and Triangles (with Maria Zahle, Dustin Ericksen, Sam Porritt, and Tony Faroux), Jason began building my own percussion and string instruments, and recording regularly both in Copenhagen and in trips to the countryside in Sweden.

After the first Blue Lake album, called The Parrot, which was made partly solo and partly in collaboration with the Squares and Triangles members, he began working entirely solo, as a means of exploring what my solo music could be. He self-released the LPs Moving and Stikling in 2020 and 2022, which increasingly focused on the self-built zithers, particularly a large 48-string instrument.

In 2023, Jason began working with the label Tonal Union and released the album Sun Arcs, which he recorded mostly in Andersabo, in rural Sweden. His latest Blue Lake LP “The Animal” was recorded in Copenhagen and released on October 3rd, 2025.

MEMOTONE

memotone is one alias of Will Yates, a composer and musician working at the fringes of the music industry. Leaning into jazz, folk, contemporary classical, ambient and esoteric fourth-world music. Memotone's live show is part pre-prepared/part improvised performance, using a mix of live instrumentation, samplers, effects and loopers to build a window into his singular soundworld.

Although self-taught, with a 'learn-by-playing' approach, Will is an experienced composer and musician, having written music for chamber ensembles, jazz trios and pop bands alike, and has worked with many artists and professionals over the years including Dmitry Evgrafov, Batu, Mister Water Wet, Time Is Away, Phaeleh, Tarotplane, PALACE (Adidas, New Balance, Oakleys, Rimowa), Eli Roth, the BBC and many more, branching into both pop and the hidden recesses of the verdant underground as a satellite member of Avon Terror Corps/The Pheasantry Society.

Memotone has released music with labels: World of Echo, The Trilogy Tapes, Sahko Recordings, Soda Gong, Accidental Meetings, Patience/Impatience, Folklore Tapes, Termina, Muscut, Tax Free, Black Acre, Diskotopia, Industrial Coast and more.

AKA O. G. Jigg (with releases on PLAQUE, EFFICIENT SPACE, Earth Memory Recordings, Folklore Tapes, Tax Free Records and through Memorecs)
