Bringing together modular synthesis, noise and field recordings, Hiro Kone's live shows are something to behold.
Kone uses a combination of hardware, synths, and modular to cultivate her sound - a visceral meditation on rhythm, noise, and melody. Taking a deconstructive approach she is known to draw upon a combination of modular synthesis, noise and field recordings.
Alongside artist residences at Pioneer Works in New York and the prestigious EMS studios in Stockholm, she has made appearances at the Red Bull Music Festival in Melbourne, playing live and appearing in conversation, as well as been a fixture at cutting-edge electronic events including Sustain-Release, Norbergsfestival, LEV Festival and MoMA PS1.
Loula Yorke is a composer and live synthesist who uses electronics and participation to create sonic artworks.
Described by Electronic Sound magazine as a ‘DIY noisenik champion’, the 2020 Oram Award Winner’s electronic music practice dances in the spaces where the personal meets the political.
When performing her trademark improvised hardware-only live sets, Yorke builds up abstract sonic collages into powerful beat workouts backed by a kaleidoscope of interlocking and repeating patterns.
Yorke has played live in support of The Orb and Talvin Singh, had radio play on BBC Radio 3 and BBCR1 & 1XTRA, and had coverage in DJ Mag, The Wire and Bandcamp Daily.
Yorke runs participatory synth-building and performance workshops Atari Punk Girls, which was developed into an audacious live show in 2021.
