Nzumbe, Annelies Monseré and Adam Christensen at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Baroque baritone electro-acoustic chamber ballads from one half of Harrga (with Dali de Saint Paul). Nzumbe presents his agonising dream-masterpiece accompanied by violin, cello, double bass and Annelies Monseré’s courtly drone-folk romances. Bafflingly beautiful FFO: Scott Walker, Lucrecia Dalt, Nico, Broadcast, Keeley Forsyth."

"Over the past two decades as a member of Ghent’s experimental music scene, Annelies Monseré has slowly refined a singular approach to musicality, moving from the sparse, instrumental piano works from that defined her early career, toward increasingly complex arrangements of instrumentation. Like her work within the widely celebrated ensemble Luster, Monseré’s solo efforts establish a strikingly beautiful and remarkably unique territory that elegantly balances between rigorous experimentalism, minimalism, drone, and folk."

"Nzʉmbe is the solo moniker of Miguel Prado. Ardor or Entropy is his first album in nine years, following 2015's Titubeo. During this period, philosopher and artist Miguel Prado’s sonic output has included synthesizing a sonic Gernika with his band HARRGA alongside Dali de Saint Paul, and crafting a hallucinatory sci-fi mythology for Lucrecia Dalt’s latest album, ¡Ay!.

Recently released on Drowned by Locals, Prado will present the new song cycle as a live quartet.

RIYL: Nico, Scott Walker, INA GRM
