SCORCHING ENERGY MUSIC FOR THE 21ST CENTURY… In the summer of 2026—following a sonic journey of spiritual exploration in his Ankh Sanctuary studio—saxophonist & producer Andrew Neil Hayes announced the return of his boundary smashing jazz-not-jazz project, Run Logan Run. It had been three years since the release of Nature Will Take Care Of You on Bristol’s own Worm Discs label. During that time Hayes dismantled old structures in order to make way for something new, emerging reinvigorated with a brand new clutch of boundary pushing collaborators, including vocalists BB.JAMES and Gina Leonard, and drummers Chris Langton and Ryan Thrupp.

At the forefront of Bristol’s contribution to the pulsing UK jazz scene come Run Logan Run, an alchemical fusion of surging polyrhythms and screaming guttural saxophone. Guided by the searching and fearless tone of founding member Andrew Neil Hayes’s horn, the band has earned a reputation for explosive live performances, full of raw power and visceral energy. The project continues to evolve a line-up that has featured many of the city’s most innovative musicians.

As Paul F Cook said in his recent review for Joyzine,

“Run Logan Run do not go gently into the night... this band could easily bring down the wall of Jericho. [They] go beyond your expectations of genre; live they are spellbinding and exhilarating. The project has toured the UK extensively, sharing stages with the likes of Colin Stetson, Melt Yourself Down, Shabaka Hutchings, and The Bad Plus, and have performed at many European Jazz Festivals. In 2019 they received the Montreux Jazz Talent Award and in 2020 were invited back to Switzerland as fellows of the Montreux Jazz Academy to play a special concert with John McLaughlin and members of Snarky Puppy. They've also worked with Danalogue & Betamax (The Comet Is Coming), Riaan Vosloo (Nostalgia 77), Dilip Harris (Brownswood / Ninja Tune) Matthew Bourne (Leaf Label) and Ill Considered.

MUMBLE TIDE

Buoyed by an ever-evolving collage of pop influences, Mumble Tide’s work has regularly swung between the sweet and savage, the grungy and glistening. But at its heart is the meeting of two minds; singer-songwriter Gina Leonard and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Rogers. Over the last few years they have honed their distinctive brand of kaleidoscopic indie, all anchored by Leonard’s crystalline, plaintive voice.

Following a series of acclaimed singles and EPs, they return with debut album Might As Well Play Another One, released on the 1st May via Breakfast Records. Produced by Stew Jackson (Massive Attack), it’s their most self-assured and compelling work to date, a sweeping, orchestral vision of struggle, sadness, and the beauty in between.
