UNCOOKED GOODS &&& at Strange Brew

A event held at Strange Brew on Wednesday 26th October. The event starts at 19:30.

THIS OCTOBER UNCOOKED GOODS founder and host Jade ayino will be having a Q&A discussion with Bristol Local photographer Khali Ackford & Shakara

Chit chatting about the differences between reconnecting the ideas around moments vs movements in history and the idea of using photography to connect ideas to action all with the intention to celebrate the joyous determination of black British artists within Bristol.

Shakara is a Jamaican-born Bristol based spoken word artist, writer, dancer, creative. Her pronouns are she/they. Her influences stem from dub poetry, dancehall, reggae, jazz, hip hop. She writes about her journey of empowerment, identity, what it’s like being a person in a racialised body and whatever comes up for her. They want people to feel less alone in their struggle. They are a revolutionary poet, revolution through the evolution of conscious. Her performance is her soul werk.

Khali Ackford photography revolves around his heritage, identity, and community. Celebrating his Jamaican roots is of paramount importance in his work, as well as giving people of colour a positive reflection of themselves, captured from his perspective. His documentary work is an extension of this, capturing what is important to him and the wider Bristol community.

Jade Ayino founder and host is an artist researcher , artist curator and multidisciplinary artist currently living it large in Bristol city. Defining a method to describe fluidity with her artistic practices, Her work explores themes of fragility within social constructs, autonomy in femininity, and the introspectiveness of intersectionality. With the intention to blur , bend and bounce the boundaries between creative disciplines.
