A event on Wednesday 1st July. The event starts at 18:00.
In this 3 hour workshop, we will explore the sonic potential of clay. Through hand building techniques, we will sculpt, scrape, and score to create small handheld whistles. We can play around with adding varying tones as well as looking at ways to transform the simple whistle form into a sculptural piece that you connect with. We will aim to create 2-3 pieces each as a way to practice the method and experiment with sound.
This workshop was imagined as a fundraiser to support families and communities resisting against ICE. The whistle in this sense is a symbolic object representing collective care, protection, and resistance. In light of the community response networks that have grown out of the ICE terror being witnessed on US streets, this workshop seeks to honor those efforts and contribute to the cause through Sound Solidarity.
