A Sonic Archive of South American Soul (1970–1989)
What began as a deep dive into the visual history of Colombian music has transformed into a sensory obsession. After meticulously archiving and documenting over 400 vintage record covers at the Bread & Butter Studio, we found ourselves captivated by more than just the ink and the cardboard. We became haunted by the music hidden beneath the surface.
The vibrant typography, the saturated colours, and the weathered textures of these sleeves told a story that demanded to be heard. We felt a responsibility to peel back the layers and bring the spirit of these archives to life.
‘With Great Pleasure’—aka ‘Con Mucho Gusto’—is a one-night-only immersive event. We are stepping out from behind the scanner and into the booth to showcase a curated selection of 70s and 80s South American gems sourced directly from our research. From the hypnotic pulse of coastal Cumbia to the high-voltage energy of Salsa Brava and the psychedelic experiments of the Tropicalia underground, this is an invitation to experience the archive in its intended form: Loud, rhythmic, and together.
