A very special evening of films highlighting the renowned and revolutionary Burkina Faso architect, activist, and educator, Diébédo Francis Kéré. The first African to receive the prestigious Pritzker Architecture prize in 2022. Renowned for his approach to solving seemingly intractable design problems rooted in poverty to climate change, Kéré works in partnership with the communities for whom he builds. Schwartz’s film is an homage to this remarkable man who says: ‘We believe the solutions the present moment calls for the need to be informed by tradition to develop practices suitable for the reality of our time, building something that never was, but for which the foundations have long been laid’.
This is a partnership between Afrika Eye Film Festival and Design West.
