Sharp Teeth Presents at The Arts House

A event held at The Arts House on Sunday 18th January. The event starts at 20:00.

We're back for our fourth event, this time with storyteller, poet and incredible interpretive dancer Katie Storer, a new work in progress piece by theatremakers Anna Scott and Faye Bishop about Mary'Birth Control Pioneer' Stopes, a story from the wonderful Ilana Winterstein, plus songs from Exeter-based Documental Theatre's new play with music, 'Score'. More acts to follow!

Doors open at 7pm, it's pay-what-you-can or pay-what-you-think-its-worth and we'd love to see you there!

Katie Storer

Katie is a storyteller, theatremaker, and interpretive dance extraordinaire! She can be seen performing her own version of the Holy Virgin in the Desperate's Men's Nativity on a Bike (22nd-23rd Dec), running interpretive dance competitions with the extremely serious and very prestigious Dan Swank Foundation, or performing stories and poetry at Easton's Sunday Circus. At Sharp Teeth she will be performing her own short story about one Being's plight to find solace in a world of racket and mayhem, followed by a selection of poems. Whatever happens, it will be fun, joyous and a little bit cheeky.

Anna Scott and Faye Bishop

Anna is a freelance theatre director and creative producer working in Bristol. She is currently directing a collaborative, partly devised opera with five talented composers based on tarot cards. She has worked for many years as a singer and youth leader with musical charity Gathering Voices and regularly performs around Bristol in musical theatre and folk settings.

Faye is a Bristol based singer, actor and theatre maker. Trained at Falmouth University (incorporating Dartington College of Arts) and a current member of this year's Made in Bristol company at the Bristol Old Vic, Faye's work and experience spans classical opera to contemporary devised performance and much in between. Recent credits include: The Spooky Ship (Bristol Old Vic), Arnold Ridley's The Ghost Train (Angelhair and JDJB Productions), Verity Standen's HUG, devised work The Life and Times of Peter by Nuclear Chameleon, The Marriage of Figaro (Minack Theatre) and Short Sharp Shows (Zion).

Together they will be scratching a little bit of a new project about Mary Stopes who was pretty badass.

Ilana Winterstein

Ilana is a writer and theatre maker, Bristol-based London escapee, a Bristol Old Vic Open Sessions writer 2013-14, writer on National Youth Theatre and Shine Drama's year-long emerging writers programme'Write To Shine', former member of Soho Theatre Young Writers Group, current member of Tobacco Factory Writers Forum.

Her work has been performed at venues including the Pleasance London, Old Red Lion, Tobacco Factory, Rich Mix, Tara Arts, the Albany, at festivals including Edinburgh Festival, Buxton, Pulse, and various other spaces including the archive room at the Battersea Arts Centre and a large broom closet at the Tristan Bates Theatre.
