Les ensortilèges de James Ensor

The silhouette of James Ensor, cult painter and yet devoid of absolute recognition that his art should assign, still haunts the dam of Ostend.
The colors outrageous fantasies that work on the barbed diatribes political denunciations, experiments before -gardistes remained at the workshop, the identificatory fascination with the figure of Christ that brings in Brussels in 1889 in his painting became the icon of art history, but also the sudden drying of inspiration at the turn century, are all movements covered by the film.
the voice of Jean-Quentin Chatelain with the texts of the painter, the original music of Marie-Jeanne Serero, works filmed in closer, the luminous presence of Pierre Alechinsky or a donkey who snorts, are some of the elements of the palette of directors to enter these "ensortilèges."
