One of the most talented younger generation players around, saxophonist and composer Arabella studied German at Bristol University, but then went on to apply for a Masters in Jazz Studies at Birmingham Conservatoire, for which she was awarded both an Entry Scholarship and a Postgraduate Performance Award from the Musicians Benevolent Fund. This gig presents the fruits of that labour, with a new line-up, new compositions and new arrangements ranging from solo saxophone to suites inspired by literature. The band features some of the finest players in the Midlands - excellent young trumpeter Nick Dewhurst is a Birmingham Conservatoire graduate who plays with NYJO, pianist Steve Tromans is known nationally and has released several CDs, James Banner is on bass and Ric Yarborough on drums.
