We're very pleased to welcome back virtuoso pianist John Law as part of an Arts Council funded tour to promote his new double CD'These Skies In Which We Rust.' Described as'One of the UK's most versatile and imaginative jazz pianist/composers' [International Piano Magazine], John's New Congregation develops his acclaimed trio Congregation, expanding it to a quartet. Alongside John's long-standing close musical relationship with Yuri Goloubev - one of the world's unique bass players, a member of Mercury nominee Gwilym Simcock's many projects and a simply sensational melodic improviser, with a tremendous technical and emotional breadth - John has brought in two new young talents: Parliamentary Jazz Award winning young saxophonist Sam Crockatt, who has been working with Gwilym Simcock and Kit Downes, a melodic player of stunning fluency and eloquence, and on drums Dave Hamblett, the most in-demand drummer on the UK jazz scene and a powerhouse of rhythm, energy and precision, a real listening drummer. 'Music that communicates on a deeper level .Another high-water mark in Law's career.' All About Jazz 2015. John Law - piano, Sam Crockatt - sax, Yuri Goloubev - bass and Dave Hamblett - drums.
