A rare appearance from Scottish saxophonist John Burgess. John used to play at the club regularly about 20 years ago when he was based near Oxford. Since then he has lived for spells in California and in Canada, and is now back in his native Edinburgh. He has released many CDs with musicians he has met on his travels, the most recent being You Are What You Hear with bassist Martin Zenker [Hamburg] and drummer Adam Sorensen [Chicago]. A musician with an appreciation for the whole history of jazz, John has recently been playing classic style clarinet and singing with the Nova Scotia Jazz Band, but is just as happy playing tunes by John Scofield & Michael Brecker - so expect a varied programme. He's joined by ace pianist Mike Willox, Will Harris on bass and Mark Whitlam on drums.
