Will Harris has been a well established feature of the Bristol jazz scene for some years, working with countless local musicians including Andy Sheppard and David Newton, and he recently toured the UK backing New York tenor legend Chris Potter. This quintet is Harris’s debut outing as a bandleader, and features several of London’s brightest rising stars including 2016 Dankworth Award winner Matt Anderson as well as pianist Will Barry who is currently touring with Jasper Hoiby’s Fellow Creatures. The music, all composed or arranged by Harris, is evocative, melodic and steeped in tradition - imagine if Nick Drake had co-written some songs with Ralph Vaughan Williams, and they’d booked the 1960s Miles Davis quintet as their backing band.
