A
gig
held at The Be-Bop Club
on Friday 9th December. The event starts at 20:30pm.
Andre Canniere is an acclaimed trumpet player, composer and educator currently based in London. Originally from rural Pennsylvania [USA], Canniere spent the first five years of his career in New York City where he worked with artists such as Maria Schneider, Donny McCaslin and Ingrid Jensen. This tour is to promote Andre’s new CD The Darkening Blue, his third release on the prestigious Whirlwind label. Inspired by poems of Rainer Maria Rilke and Charles Bukowski, the music appropriately combines the haunting and mystical elements of Rilke with the grit and boldness of Bukowski. The band features "imposingly original" [Guardian] saxophonist Tori Freestone, Birmingham Conservatoire piano tutor John Turville, bassist Mark Lewandowski [Bad Ash with Ed Jones], drummer Tim Giles [recently included in the Royal Academy’s Honours List 2016] and the "subtlety and precision" [Guardian] of guest vocalist Brigitte Beraha. This is an incredible line-up for us to have at the club, so please make sure they have a full house. http://www.andrecanniere.com/
