Sober Dance + Sound Bath at The Beehive Centre (BS5)
See event details

A event on Sunday 6th October. The event starts at 16:00.

Hi, I'm LEXX, the organiser and DJ for Sober Dance + Sound Bath. And you guessed it, we're gonna do just that: a substance-free free movement dance followed by a sound bath to hug and land our nervous systems. We'll begin with a grounding meditation, slowly wake up our limbs, build up to reach maximum f!ck it release, and come back down into a soft close. You can think of it like a wave. We're a team of three beautiful Queers holding space for you: me behind the decks, Lucia on the mic and Dunya on the sound bath.

THE VIBE

This is a Queer-led event for everybody to join. You don't need to have any dance experience. Actually, the less technical you can be, the better. Yup. You choose how you dance and you can't get it wrong. Throw in some noise and screams if you feel like it. Always get verbal or non-verbal consent before if you want to touch someone else in your dancing. This is an acceptance-led space - no discrimination on the grounds of race, sexuality, gender, disability or age will be tolerated. There's a pillow and blankets corner in the dance space, and sofas in the adjacent room, soft lighting, and herbal teas available. Sounds good? Let's do this.

THE SCHEDULE

Arrive for 3:45PM SHARP. Doors close and we dive in at 4:00PM. If you can only attend in part, please email me on [email protected].

ABOUT DUNYA https://www.instagram.com/dunyalamrhari (she/her)

Dunya loves performing in sober and queer spaces, celebrating uniqueness, diversity and creativity.

ABOUT LUCIA (she/her) https://www.instagram.com/luciaethompson

Lucia is a soulful, velvet-voiced guide on the dance floor, with 15 years of movement experience across diverse styles. Her deep passion lies in 5Rhythms, complemented by her recent explorations into contact improvisation, fusion, and partner dancing. With a decade of facilitation experience, Lucia artfully blends these worlds, creating spaces where participants can connect deeply with their bodies. With both gentle encouragement and steady presence, she invites you to tune into your body, guiding you through an exploration of what’s alive within you, and where your attention is called to move.
