We welcome you back to The Black Swan, to put on your dancing shoes and experience the incredible vibes that manifest at Bristol Dub Club each month.
Bristol Dub Club is a home-grown roots sound system night welcoming not only big names, but also some of the most exciting underground talent in roots, dub and steppers. Every month two sound systems meet, or a selection of Selectors & Artists perform at the Black Swan to bring pure vibes, express their unique sounds and uplift the crowd.
This month we have Sinai Sound, one of the scene's most promising new sound systems, stepping into the dub club arena alongside one of our own resident sounds, Jah Lokko.
Hailing from Sheffield, Sinai Sound System plays contemporary reggae and dub music presented in the traditional sound system style, fusing the boundaries between pro-audio and sound system culture. The sound system in its full form was debuted in Sheffield to great acclaim in March 2014. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength pushing the boundaries of what a modern sound system can be. As time has gone by the crew has increased to four full time members, each with their own specialised skill set; be it building boxes, creating new original music to play on the sound, promotion, maintenance and more.
Working closely together with other Sheffield sound crews, working as a team, Sinai relies on its strengths and not just individual personalities. Sinai Sound was also the first dub sound system to appear on the prestigious ͞Boiler Room͟, providing the sound system for Deep Medi in Nov 2015 With other sound system and DJ appearances at; SubDub, Deep Medi, ROOTS, One Love Festival, Dancehall Science, United Nations of Dub Festival, RubberDub, Bristol Dub Club, International Dub Gathering (Barcelona), Displace, Young Echo, Tumble Audio, Techtonic Records, Shak Out, Jungle Cat, Back to Basics, Deeper Than Roots, Dub Cub, Decades of Dub, Dusk Till Dawn, Love a Dub, Walk N Skank and many more
Jah Lokko have been performing as a crew for more than 30 years. Their musical tastes are rooted in dub, roots & steppers however they also provide entertaintment in a dancehall fashion, through their alias sound system, Unique Star. Jah Lokko are renound in Bristol for their custom built, heavy sound system & play regularily across the city at various events.
This dubwise meeting between two generations is set to be a killer so make it a date and don't be late!
