Colours Day Party w/ Ron Obvious
Friday 2nd June
Black Swan, Courtyard
£5 / £7 / £9 / £11
After last year's blow-out on the terrace with Fabio Monesi we simply couldn't resist putting on another day party to conclude this year's event series. This time round we're hosting a Bristol debut from deep house connoisseur Ron Obvious, joined by PLU boss Ranks and Colours residents. With a four way system and the ideal outdoor setting, this is not one to miss...
Ron Obvious (L.B. Produce, International Black)
To headline the party we're inviting down one of South London’s most exciting new prospects - Ron Obvious. His debut 4 track release 'Group Mind' on L.B. Produce in 2015 demonstrated a clearly informed approach, nodding to the mid 90s analouge driven deep house/US garage sound. His follow-up EP, 'Reseda Drive', further encapsulated this understanding, providing a nostaglic marriage of drum rhythms and sinister chord work reminiscent of the original players in the NYC/Chicago/Detroit scene. Having also recently featured on Rhythm Section's darker sub-label international Black, Ron's progression is undeniable. Expect a 3hr all-vinyl journey through classic deep house, raw uncompromising drum patterns and obsure US and UK garage.
Ranks (PLU)
Also joining the bill we have disco aficionado and vinyl enthusiast Ranks from the highly esteemed Bristol/London party People Like Us (PLU). With a reputation for eclectic extended sets, Ranks effortlessly weaves between arcane disco, post-punk, italo, deep house and much more. Having seriously impressed us with his skills behind the decks, we can’t wait to see what delights his record bag will offer on the day.
