A gig held at The Canteen on Wednesday 10th January. The event starts at 21:30.

Free entry!

Azhaar continues the tropical jazz sabor of her band Global Wave, with the new EP ‘Song of the Quetzal’ inspired by her experiences on a mountain top in Costa Rica in 2020 after encountering 2 rare quetzal birds famed in legends for their double tail-feathers.

Singer/Violinist, Azhaar Saffar recieved recognition with acclaimed Brazilian jazz group Sirius B. As a prolific writer with 8 albums to her name so far, she has worked with many of the top names in jazz, Jason Rebello, Iain Ballamy, Gareth Lockrane and Producer/Congeiro/DJ Snowboy who produced the title track of her last album ‘Original Love’ And with Global Wave she found a platform for her distinctive violin playing, likened to Grapelli meets Jimi Hendrix, which features on the new E.P!

Azhaar's worldwide appearances reflect her colourful, semi-nomadic lifestyle: Montreux jazz festival, London ESG jazz festival, the Jazz cafe, Mai Jazz Norway, Drogheda Ireland, Mestival Spain, Muni. Centre Sao Paolo's, Chicago Jazz Clubs, and Mexio's San Miguel Allende festival, not to mention Nicaraguan Street bands, Costa Rican Latin groups and our own Glastonbury Festival!'

Entry requirements: 18+
